Edgerton Hospital Introduces New Women’s Pelvic Health Program

Edgerton Hospital has added a new service to its continuum of care, women’s pelvic health. Offered through the hospital’s physical therapy department, women who experience the following symptoms can now seek treatment locally:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Urinary symptoms (accidental loss of urine, feeling unable to fully empty the bladder, frequent feeling of need to urinate, frequent night-time urination, pain or burning with urination, difficulty stopping/starting the urine stream)
  • Feeling of increased pelvic pressure or the sensation of pelvic organs slipping down or falling out
  • Bowel symptoms (accidental loss of bowel control, feeling unable to completely empty the bowel, straining or pain with bowel movements, difficulty initiating a bowel movement)
  • Pain or discomfort with sexual activity or intercourse

The women’s pelvic health program is being led by Raj Iyer, DPT. Iyer has a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Oakland University and has been practicing for the past 12 years. A physician referral is needed to complete the initial evaluation. Edgerton Hospital’s team can assist with obtaining the referral by calling 608-884-1390.
