Edgerton Hospital Launches New Pain Management Center

On Wednesday, March 30th, Edgerton Hospital and Health Services will open the doors to its new Pain Management Center, led by Dr. Arpan J. Patel. Few fields of medicine have evolved and advanced more in recent years than pain management, and Edgerton Hospital is proud to be dedicating a new department specifically to this important, specialized service.

Far too often, people suffering from chronic pain either are resigned to accept their daily discomfort or concerned that treatment options will be limited to prescription drugs. As a result, many experience increasing, avoidable discomfort, as well as depression and adverse effects to their personal and professional lives. The Edgerton Hospital Pain Management Center offers a professional alternative, helping patients understand the likely causes of their pain, along with providing individually tailored treatment methods to help reduce it. This goes beyond pain medication into numerous other modalities, including physical therapy, massage, and cognitive and behavioral therapies.

The Edgerton Hospital Pain Management Center offers the diagnosis and treatment of the following pain conditions:

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain, including sciatica
  • Work-related injuries
  • Persistent pain after back or neck surgery
  • Arthritis pain in spine and joints
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Nerve damage
  • Muscle spasm pain
  • Shingles pain
  • Headaches

Edgerton Hospital CEO, Marc Augsburger, MBA, BSN, says this new service is a needed addition. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Patel as the Director of our Pain Management Center. His expertise and extensive training will be such a value to our patients. Pain management is a growing concern for our community and having this access to care, without having to travel far, will be a real benefit for our patients,” said Augsburger.

Dr. Arpan J. Patel is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Medicine from the Tri-Institute Pain Fellowship program in New York, NY.  Dr. Patel’s extensive training includes some
