Foundation Awarded $55,000 Grant for Critical Imaging Equipment

The Edgerton Hospital Capital Foundation (EHCF) is the grateful recipient of a $55,000 grant from the Roots & Wings Foundation. This grant will help replace Edgerton Hospital’s current X-ray equipment with new advanced digital X-ray equipment. This new equipment will improve diagnostic capabilities and provide high quality imaging to community members.

As 2020 comes to a close, the EHCF is close to meeting their fundraising goal of $458,000, but needs the community’s support to make this happen. To date, $293,000 in donations has been received. The EHCF must still raise $65,000 to receive the $100,000 grant awarded by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission Telecommunications Medical Equipment Grant Program. Foundation Director, Bonnie Robinson, believes this is possible thanks to the generosity of its donors.

“Our community understands the important role that imaging plays in healthcare. And, they value having this quality service in their hometown. I’d like to encourage anyone looking to make an end-of-year donation to consider the Edgerton Hospital Capital Foundation. We are so close to meeting our goal, and would be so thankful for the community’s help,” said Robinson.

Why is this new equipment so important?

In the midst of a pandemic such as COVID-19, it is more important than ever before to be able to offer the highest quality diagnostic tools. As patients present in the emergency department with respiratory symptoms, especially those related to COVID-19, they will likely require chest x-ray imaging. Critically ill patients will need chest x-ray imaging to aid in the intubation processes, as well as to diagnose pneumonia and other complications.  Edgerton Hospital’s radiologists work 24/7 to interpret these x-rays, so it’s crucial that the images be of the highest detail and be sent with prompt speed. Not only is this new x-ray equipment essential to identifying COVID-19, but it will also be used to diagnose a myriad of other conditions.
