Edgerton Hospital is Not a Free Testing Site

As COVID-19 continues to spread through our communities, Edgerton Hospital wishes to remind the community that it is not a free testing site.  For those seeking a free COVID-19 test, a testing site is available at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison, WI. Hours of operation are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For full details on the testing process at the Alliant Entergy Center, visit https://publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus/testing.

Edgerton Hospital patients who visit the Emergency/Urgent Care department with COVID-19 symptoms will be tested if the physician on staff deems it necessary. The visit will be billed as a normal emergency/urgent care visit. We continue to encourage patients to call their primary care provider first to confirm the need for a test. If the Edgerton Hospital laboratory receives an order from a primary care provider, a test can be administered in the outpatient lab area at any time, and will be billed as a lab visit.

As we navigate through this health crisis, we are pleased to announce that we can safely begin rescheduling and seeing patients for the following:

  • Surgical procedures – week of May 4th

April 3, 2020

The Edgerton Hospital Milton Clinic is now offering patients the opportunity to schedule an appointment with a provider, remotely, either via telephone or a video meeting. If the health concern is not urgent and the patient feels more comfortable seeking medical advice without leaving home, this new telehealth service may be appropriate.  To learn more or to determine if a telehealth appointment would meet the patients' needs, please call the clinic at 608-868-3526.

Edgerton Hospital recognizes community spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin, therefore all individuals entering Edgerton Hospital will be screened for fever (100.0), as well as for symptoms associated with COVID-19 (starting Friday, 3/20, at 5:30 a.m.). All patients (except for ER/Urgent Care patients) and employees will enter through the main entrance doors.

The ER/Urgent Care entrance will be locked 24/7. Patients are asked to use the call button in the ER/Urgent Care entryway to alert staff of their arrival. Staff will then verbally screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms before opening doors.

By 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020, the community can call a triage line at Edgerton Hospital with questions regarding COVID-19 and symptoms they may be experiencing: 608-884-3441. The line will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

The health and safety of our patients and staff is always our top priority. We believe this step is in the best interest of patients, staff and the community during this challenging period. This is a rapidly evolving situation, and we will reassess schedules on an ongoing basis.
