The Edgerton Hospital Healing Garden is excited to announce this year’s Garden Art Project, featuring handcrafted butterfly displays created by our community. This annual project invites participants of all ages and skill levels to decorate wooden butterfly cutouts that will be displayed throughout the hospital campus and later auctioned to support the Healing Garden and the Edgerton Hospital Auxiliary.

How to Participate

  • Pick up a 24-inch wooden butterfly cutout
  • $30 materials fee per butterfly
  • Available in the Auxiliary area near the main lobby at Edgerton Hospital
  • Limited quantity available (50 total)
Participants are encouraged to paint and/or decorate their butterfly to create a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Design Guidelines

To ensure your butterfly can be displayed outdoors:
  • Decorate both sides of the butterfly
  • Use materials that can withstand sun, rain, and wind
  • Do not cover or fill in predrilled holes (used for mounting)
  • The stake outline may be painted, but avoid raised materials in that area

Important Dates

  • Return Deadline: April 30 (or as soon after as possible)
  • Display Period: Early May through early October
  • Auction: Online auction held late September through early October (dates TBD)
Completed butterflies should be returned to the Hospital Auxiliary desk.

Display & Community Impact

Once completed, butterflies will be placed throughout the Edgerton Hospital Healing Garden and hospital campus, creating a vibrant outdoor gallery for patients, visitors, and the community to enjoy. Each butterfly’s final location will be selected to best showcase its design. At the end of the season, all butterflies will be auctioned online, with proceeds benefiting the Healing Garden and the Auxiliary, helping support a peaceful, restorative space for all who visit.

Why Participate?

  • Showcase your creativity in a public setting
  • Support a meaningful community space
  • Contribute to a fundraising effort that benefits patients and families
  • Be part of a growing tradition in the Healing Garden
