Description:

April is National Parkinson’s Awareness Month, so Edgerton Hospital is offering this free educational program.

This informative session will be led by Emily Kieck, MS, CCC-SLP, Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist at Edgerton Hospital. The program will focus on LSVT LOUD®, an evidence-based, intensive voice treatment program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s disease can often cause changes in voice, including reduced volume, monotone speech, and difficulty being understood. LSVT LOUD helps individuals strengthen their voice, improve speech clarity, and build confidence in communication. Research shows that early intervention can make a meaningful difference in maintaining communication abilities and overall quality of life.

During the session, attendees will:

  • Learn how Parkinson’s affects speech and voice
  • Understand how LSVT LOUD works
  • Discover who may benefit from therapy
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions

This program is open to individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, caregivers, family members, and anyone interested in learning more about speech therapy options available locally.

Here's a note from your presenter, Emily Kieck, MS, CCC-SLP:
“Effective communication is essential for maintaining quality of life,” said Kieck. “LSVT has been shown to significantly improve vocal strength and clarity in people with Parkinson’s, and we are excited to share this information with our community.”
